The Honeywell Family has been frequenting Lopez Island since the 1960s. Phyllis and Stan Honeywell, long time friends of the Ross and Anne Whirley, Lopez Locals, spent many summers on the shores of Odlin Park. Continuing the tradition, Scott and Lori Honeywell began bringing their kids up to the island. Where we all fell in love with this quiet gem surrounded by the Salish Sea.
In November 2012, Scott and Lori Honeywell purchased this small business formerly called Islandale Southender and the long time corner store, gas station began to transform. Jk and Mariah Honeywell joined the team in the beginning and started a thriving restaurant here on the Southend. Right away they began to outgrow the tiny kitchen and small dinning area. It was after their 3rd year that an opportunity to expand and move into the village enticed them to strike out on their own. They opened Haven Kitchen & Bar in June 2015.
Joining the team in 2013, Justin Honeywell, Lori and Scott's youngest son, quickly became Manager and began to shape the general store into a market. Combining forces with Lori, we morphed the once corner store into the thriving Southend Market. In early 2017, with our love and passion for Mexican food, we reopened the restaurant as the Mexican Café and Bar. Offering a full Mexican inspired menu and Tequila Bar.
As a family owned and operated small business, it is our pleasure to continue serving the Lopez Island Community and beyond. Inspired by the Aloha spirit, we welcome one and all and hope to assist in making your stay, whether long or short, be wonderful and fulfilling. In the end we are all guests to this amazing island, and we hope you will join us in helping to preserve this gem for many generations to come. Tread lightly, take only pictures and leave only tracks.
